Checkbooks, Katrina, Iraq and Presidential Candidates

This political stuff is simply too much fun.

So McCain has decided that Obama- due to the “lapse in time” since he’s visited Iraq- cannot possibly be taken seriously in his bid for the white house. According to Mccain, Obama hasn’t been to Iraq in two years and therefore really can’t talk about what is or is not occuring over there.

Riiight.

Uh… does that mean we shouldn’t actually vote for McCain either since it’s been over two years since he set foot in Katrina-ravaged Louisiana? Cuz that, people, is a huge cluster-fuck that’s happenin’ right here in the good ol’ U.S. of A… and if ya gotta be present in order to know what the hell you’re talkin’ about (like the Great Senator M says) then… well… he hasn’t been.

Blech.

Anyways, back to the subject at hand. McCain’s been to Iraq plenty of times in the past 2 years and he still has no flippin’ clue what’s goin’ on.

Kinda make one wonder, what’s his excuse?

See, McCain seems to think we’re making the utmost of progress in Iraq- pointing to the fact that our current troop level is lower than pre-surge levels as evidence of the country’s resounding success.

Huh.

Now I’m no math whiz- but considering the fact that pre-surge troop levels stood around 130,000 and current troop levels are at 150,000… I’d have to say he’s just plain wrong.

So… from where I sit… it doesn’t even matter how often either of these candidates have physically been to Iraq. Cuz really, in my humble opinion, it just looks like the one who’s been there the most is still absolutely clueless.

Ya know what tho? We all make mistakes. I always say, just accept responsibility and move on… so McCain made a mathematical error (to the tune of 20,000 troops)- whatever- I make mistakes like that when balancing my checkbook. Constantly.

No really- I do.

Problem is, there’s no fessin’ up and movin’ on with this guy. Even when confronted with the numbers he still refuses to admit he made a big ol’ boo boo.

Instead, he spins.

When asked directly about his numerical error, he won’t even admit he misspoke.

Why do people do that?

We, John Q. Public, are told of every damn time either one of these guys even blinks their beady little eyes… so why on earth would McCain assume he could get away with botching the numbers… on the topic of the war, for God’s sake?

Did he really think no one would notice? Or, more likely, he has no idea what the hell he’s talking about…

In spite of all his trips to Iraq.
